When it comes time to repair auxiliary power unit (APU) components, you need a repair company you can trust to keep your aircraft safe and regulatory-compliant. At Advanced Materials Technologies (AMT), quality assurance is at the center of everything we do. As an FAA-certified Part 145 aerospace repair station, we specialize in commercial APU hot section turbine component repairs with quality assurance built into every step of the process.
Our approach to quality follows a simple motto: “Say it, do it, prove it.” We believe every repair should include precise workmanship, thorough inspection, and documented, traceable verification. It’s this commitment to excellence that has helped AMT establish a strong reputation for reliable APU repairs.
FAA-Certified Repairs You Can Trust
AMT provides specialized repair services to a global network of airlines, engine overhaul shops, and aviation parts distributors. We repair components for leading commercial APU manufacturers, including Honeywell, with services ranging from routine repairs to complex casting replacements.
Our FAA certification reflects our commitment to providing efficient, reliable repairs that ensure every restored component meets regulatory standards and is suitable for its intended use. We also maintain quality management systems that comply with ISO 9001:2015 and AS9100 standards. Building our repair processes on these frameworks means you can expect consistent, documented results and continuous attention to quality throughout our operations.
Our Dedicated Quality Department
At AMT, our quality department uses advanced inspection techniques and precise, state-of-the-art equipment to evaluate highly complex aerospace components and verify that dimensions meet industry standards. We aim to provide accurate, documented data that meets customer requirements and regulatory compliance while exceeding expectations.
Our facility houses four coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and an in-house parts inspection team, which allow us to conduct detailed dimensional inspections and precisely measure tolerances. We closely monitor dimensional accuracy as APU parts move through each stage of the repair process.
Our Comprehensive Quality Assurance Process
We don’t see quality assurance as just a final checkpoint. Instead, we build it into every part of our operations, from initial component assessment to final inspection. Every repaired component undergoes applicable inspections and tests to verify its condition, dimensional accuracy, and performance against required specifications. We use the following procedures to evaluate component integrity and verify that repaired parts meet industry standards.
- Non-Destructive Testing and
Non-destructive testing (NDT) helps identify defects without damaging a component or compromising its structural integrity.
- Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection
One NDT method we use is fluorescent penetrant inspection (FPI), which detects surface-breaking cracks and other discontinuities that may not be visible during a standard inspection.
- Airflow Testing
When applicable, we test the component’s airflow capacity to verify that it meets the required specifications, functions properly, and is ready to return to service.
- Dimensional Inspection
Our four on-site CMMs, advanced metrology equipment, and dimensional inspection procedures allow us to verify that repaired components meet required measurements and tolerances. Our inspection team carefully evaluates the resulting measurements and documents the findings, so that you receive reliable data about the work performed.
- Precision Hand Finishing
Our experienced technicians hand-finish repaired parts to meet exact dimensional requirements, surface finish specifications, and applicable quality standards.
FAA Form 8130-3 Documentation and Traceability
We’re committed to providing traceable repairs and giving customers a clear record of the work performed. Following inspection and approval, eligible repaired components receive an FAA Form 8130-3 Authorized Release Certificate. The FAA 8130 tag verifies airworthiness and provides key information about the component (such as its part number, serial number, and quantity), as well as its approved release status.
